Our Debt to the Dog is a critical historical and cross-cultural examination, through the use of case studies, of this most improbable 15,000-year relationship and an exploration of how this relationship shaped the history of the world. Bryan D. Cummins taught anthropology for over 20 years at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He presently teaches with the Department of Indigenous Studies, Trent University, Peterborough, Ontario.

Outstanding book on how dogs have effected human culture

This book won the 2014 Dog Writers Association of America Book of the Year. Very well researched, as I have always found Bryan Cummins' books to be. His other books have been focused on specific breeds or breed groups, so if you don't have one of those breeds, you might not be familiar with his work. Now is your opportunity! The writing is thorough and somewhat scholarly, but still very readable and not dry.

Only problem is the size of the writing. I am unablevto read the book as the writing is tiny. Good condition, fast delivery. But thought i was grtting a book with custom sized text. Not amazon or the sellers fault. But this should have been stated in book description.

Worth Reading!

This book is unbelievably the most thorough work on dogs and the history of dogs dating back to over 15,000 years ago. A most interesting read. The author has done an extraordinary job and it is well worth ready if you are a dog lover, wolf lover, or if you have an interest in history.
