About the Author
Martha Sears, RN and William Sears MD are the pediatrics experts to whom American parents turn for advice and information on all aspects of pregnancy, birth, childcare, and family nutrition. Martha Sears is a registered nurse, certified childbirth educator, and breastfeeding consultant. Dr. Sears was trained at Harvard Medical School's Children's Hospital and Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children, the largest children's hospital in the world. He has practiced pediatrics for nearly 50 years. Together, the Searses have authored more than 40 pediatrics books.

If you plan to nurse -- you must have this book.

This is an incredible book. I read three breastfeeding books in anticipation of nursing my child. This one is by far the best of the bunch. It is informative, supportive, easy to read, and contains all the information you could ever want. It also is written in a style that is incredibly supportive of a new mom (as I was). It can be used as a reference book, but it is interesting enough that it is a great cover to cover read (I read it while nursing!) And -- if one has problems with nursing in the beginning (as I did), it gives you the support and encouragement needed to keep trying. Another friend of mine to whom I sent the book said that without it, she would have quit. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

Good book, horrible formatting.

I'm 8 months pregnant, so I haven't gotten to use the information yet. It seems to contain a LOT of good info.
My low review is for the lazy, careless way this book was converted to e-book format. It's quite clear that no one at the publishing company read through the book as an ebook. There are incomplete words all over the place to the point where it is sometimes difficult to understand. Even worse, the formatting is TERRIBLE. The charts that pop up every now and then are basically unuseable, even if you zoom out as far as possible. I've read this book on a Kindle Paperwhite (gen 2), a Kindle Fire (gen 1), and a Nexus 7 (gen 2). Same poor reading experience on all of them. It's like reading something from a bad indie publisher. Extremely disappointed with this e-book.
If the publisher updates it, I'll be more than happy to update my review.

Best Breastfeeding Book on the Market!

This is an amazing book, I highly recommend for any pregnant or new mother who is planning to breastfeed her baby. I bought this as a gift for my sister-in-law who was pregnant with her first baby. I already had my own copy of this book and I found that it was extremely useful from pregnancy on through toddlerhood. The index in the back was extremely helpful in looking up particular categories whenever I had a question or concern. I love Dr. & Mrs. Sear's ideology and input on breastfeeding. You will love this book too! Because of this helpful & insightful book, I had the confidence to continue nursing my own babies until they were between 1.5 years old and 2 years old.
