This edition is clearly designed for those who have studied Latin and is to be used in the classroom. Your points are fine, but miss the nature of the book. As a Latin teacher, I am very grateful that there is no translation because students don't translate carefully enough if there is a translation in front of them. The word "dimoto" is, in fact, in the vocabulary, but you have to know that it's the past participle of dimoveo, so you have to know some Latin. I suggest you get Hanson's Loeb edition which has the Latin and English side by side, which would work better for your purposes.

His vocabulary and notes offer even a high school Latin student the ability to read Apuleius in the original without hesitation or apprehension. Stephen Nimis offers an intelligent and readable introduction to Apuleius' world and to the literary tradition which underlies Apuleius' Metamorphoses. A great tool to introduce this fascinating work to students who otherwise would have little or no experience of Silver Latin.

EVERYONE Should Read This Book

Yesterday I read this book my wife ordered. You'd think after decades of marriage I would know all this kind of stuff. But I found to my surprise that I did not.
And it's never too late to learn! (anything)
The book is about the basic differences (and vive le différence!) between men and women: man-left brain; wife-both left and right brain. It's about a total view of sex, outside the bedroom as well as inside.
In broad terms, it's about women being more relational, wanting affection, communication and commitment. Men, being more single-minded, and apart from "happy boy" being eager incessantly, still need to feel wanted, needed and respected. The right way for both spouses to satisfy these needs of the other is thoroughly discussed.
Given the basic differences between men and women, it's not automatic for them to get on the same page. But, as this well-known author describes, it's reasonably easy. And the rewards for great sex within marriage can be stupendous. And sex, in any form, as the author explains, is inarguably vital to a truly happy and successful marriage.
I think most of us can learn a lot from this book. And your children might benefit also. Divorce is far too prevalent in our society, marriages lasting a national average of only seven years and in many cases, perhaps in most cases, needlessly so.
